Meeting authors is awesome? Psht, YEAH!

So I got to meet Ally Carter a couple weeks ago at a book fair- highlight of October, by the way. She's so nice!!!

And I was wondering, to any might-be readers out there- any authors you desperately want to meet? Maybe you have multiples, maybe not at all. I wanna know!

And if you're a wanna-be author, such as yours trully, whats the thing that frustrates you most about book fairs?  Is it that the authors don't take you seriously? Or that you just don't like any of what they've written?

Feedback, anyone? =P

Houston, we have....Animation in America?

Wait, no we don't.

It's true. Animation in America (Try saying that five times fast!) is beginning to go down the drain. With countries like Japan (I mean, come on, who can compete with that stuff?) taking over the market, American animation of any kind is taking a backseat to liveaction.

Maybe it's time to learn a lesson or two from another country film-wise.

Our animation has begun to suck. You heard me.

I mean, ever since Mulan (I am proud to have been alive for the release of that movie) traditional animation has been terrible. (We aren't counting computer animation, since that's kinda taking off.) I mean, what happened to The Lion King? Ever since the 90s, Disney has once again entered the dark ages of animation. (They've entered them before- the Black Cauldron wasn't the biggest hit on the block ya know.)

And the Princess and the Frog? From what I've heard, it was a joke: a lame, sad joke. I'll make that judgement when I get the chance to finally see it. Anyone know where I can find it online?

And channels like Cartoon Network? Not even worthy of the name. What happened to Toon Disney?! Seriously, Disney XD? For skaters? Disney, you've got to be kidding me! Skaters wouldn't be found NEAR that network in the first place? (Then you commited a cardinal sin and bought Naruto Shippuden. I don't even LIKE that anime and I'm mad at you.)

The littlest Jonas brother needs to stay away from voice acting. FAR away. Don't ruin it for the rest of the REAL otakus!

Ok, this rant has gotten a little off-track. All in all, Hollywood, make a good animated movie. Because right now, your target group must be A LOT smaller than you think.

I'm back!!!!

And I have a new layout! (Thanks thecutestblogontheblock.com!!!) How's that for unashamed, unpaid advertising? Not to shabby, eh?

I know it's not my normal style for a blog, but I figured I'd try something new- plus I really like it!

So I've been working on other blogs as well, so I've been just a liiiittle busy. To see my awesomesauce design compiling (That should so be a job title.) go to adventuresoftheotherside.blogspot.com (Which you can now FOLLOW! WOOT! What a concept.) and justsewjudy.blogspot.com. The latter is not my own blog, it is my mother's. She's selling really awesomely cute craft supplies, so check it out! Not that she's blogged anything yet- just set up the layout this morning! So yeah, go check it out anyways!

The Austin Teen Book Fair is coming up soon, and you wouldn't BELIEVE how excited I am. Why? The list of authors just changed.

ALLY CARTER IS GOING! I repeat: ALLY CARTER! Author of Heist Society...only the BEST teen book EVER! (Because Artemis Fowl really isn't meant for teenagers- it's meant for middle school boys. What does that say about my personality? Hmm...)

And I got the book for another author (Catherine Jinks) who's going, which looks evilly awesome. (Evil Genius- no, that's literally the title.)

And I have to finished the manga I borrowed from my friend. And the Harry Potter book I'm borrowing from another friend. With that, we've realized that THIS author has to go do a lot of reading from OTHER authors. Awesome...books. Maybe I have an addiction, maybe I don't. Heh.

Talk to y'all soon!

Long time no talk.

So yeah, I've been busy. Writing has taken a bit of a back burner on the stove, sadly.

Not as much as blogging.

I lack inspiation? I guess.

School is about to start, my life is about to go null n' void. BAH. I'm going to get more organized. I swear. I also owe one person swaps on inkpop. Darn.

Sorry for the short post, this is just me, complaining about what a fear my busy life will become. I SHALL LIVE THOUGH! Junior year will not kill me.

Me Be Mini

And I be almost finished with 50,000 words of All I Live For. I'm super close to being finished with the first draft of anything worth reading!!! Yay! =D

And it's time for a small rant:

I hate it when people critique something that someone else told me should be another way that isn't...GAHHHHHHHHHH!

In plain English, it's frustrating when someone likes something one way and someone else doesn't, and both tell me to change the way I did it to their way. Like...someone being confused about a fact that I pointed out in the first chapter, but someone else said that was something I shouldn't have told, and instead I should have shown it through actions first.

Rant over. I feel better now. Thanks for listening to my run-on sentences! XP

Gotta love it.

Life is good.

I want one of those tshirts. Because life really is good right now. I had a great week at a leadership retreat in the mountains of New Mexico- even including one SCARY mountain climb.

So yeah, I've had a long week, but a great one. Today I went to a neighborhood work day, got to see the prettiest Arab horse, AND a bunch of kittens. Adorable, ADORABLE kittens.

And I've got a ton of Swaps on Inkpop to deal with. So toodles.

Until we meet again,

Mon Ami!

Mon ami, mon ami!

What is it with me using French lately? I don't even speak the language! (I speak Spanish- not well, but I speak it.)

Right now I'm kind of bored. I'm thinking about politics, but I decided to skirt that for awhile on this blog, so no going in depth there. They give me a headache. For the record, I'm an extreme CONSERVATIVE. Which seems to be a rarity among authors and the artistic types.

As for writing...

I started to work on a short story/novella series called the Erica Runner series about a hyped-up, lackadaisical detective with an odd sense of humor. Oh gosh, I'm awful at writing mysteries, but I just love the character SO dang much.

I've learned alot of things about writing them recently, however, such as:

1. Set up your clues and red herrings before starting to write.
2. Work backwards when setting up murder.
3. If you don't use an outline, you'll write yourself into a box. *experience speaking*

Any other advice? For now, I'm working on introducing her to the story. She's not a part of the police force, so I'm trying to introduce her to the mystery.

Right now she's at the crime scene, annoying the autopsy tech, when she figures out who the unidentifiable body belongs to...and gets enstated as a police consultant by the chief over the phone. I'm not sure I like it, but it's what I've got for now.

So yeah.

Until next time....Arreviderchi!

Bonjour

I'm watching Julie & Julia, which inspired me to update my blog. For once.

New look, new post, I'm on a freaking ROLL! ^_^

So yeah. Gotta love those sudden inspirations that aren't going to last, but are fun to jump on anyways! So yeah, my little trek as a freelance writer is working. I got to meet with the local newspaper editor...who hasn't called me back yet. Oh well, in one week, I'll call him...after a trek to New Mexico.

Today, I want to feature a lovely online project for you all to read.

On Inkpop.com, there is an author known as S. M. Johnston, who wrote a lovely novel called Mischa, which should definitely be published. I suggest that you read it at the following link:

http://www.inkpop.com/projects/18350/mishca-/

I also have a book on Inkpop- the link is on the sidebar, in case you're interested.

I'll also feature on AND offline writers from now on: each Saturday, my read of the week will be posted.

So, until next time, Adieu!

Freelance Journalism

I'm making an announcement AND looking for advice. (Yay for multitasking.)

I've decided to try going into freelance journalism as a possible career choice. (Scriptwriting is another possibility.) If you have any experience in this area or such, please, give me some advice! I'm incredibly new here, and along with that, incredibly young for going into something like this. (Teenager.)

I think it's worth a try, and it's something I can do that I don't have to go into the workplace to do.

Also, if you're putting together a blogging team, I AM experienced in blogs!
I also do photography, if you're interested.

So, that would be all for now.
Toodles!

NEW WEBSITE

Well, I've got my own website. I'm official. YAY.
Too tired to write much for now, but I'll tell you this:
I've been to Rome- went there on spring break. I've got life trying to kill me, so I probably won't write you for....until Easter or so. Then, I'll tell you ALL about it....if you care to listen. =P

Until then, check it out:

Secret Geek

Well, I am a geek, no doubt about it. Or is it a nerd? I get confused about the differences.

Yes, I like anime, but that's a new development.
I've been raised on scifi, and I like it. (So there.)
And I've shocked everyone at one point or another with the fact that, yes, I know who Jean-Luc Picard is. In fact, he's my favorite Star Trek captain!
Oh yeah, I know who Porthos is. Beat that.
(For the record, he's Jonathan Archer's dog.)

I just cored 40% on a "How Geek Are You?" quiz. Why? I can hide the fact that I'm a geek. Okay, to a point. I finally blew my cover at school, after years of secretly loving it. I just don't look like a geek. (I have some measure of fashion sense...just not the same as everyone else. Why? I hate miniskirts. TAKE THAT ROY MUSTANG! Ok, there I go again...)

I have issues embracing my inner geek. Oh well, people still love me. (Geeks and non-geeks alike.) For the most part, anyways. Yes, believe it or not, I have a few people who just can't stand me. =P

So, anyways, those are just my thoughts on geekhood, if they make any sense at all.

Until next time,

.Mini.

The Heist

What's sad is I came up with an awesome subject and title yesterday. Oh well....You win some, you lose some.

Well, for now I'm focusing on my one story, All I Live For, on Inkpop, but I might edit and post my first finished novel sometime in the future. It remains poorly named at Beautiful Ashes, which would fool ANYONE reading it.

What it's really about is a group of high tech thieves pulling a heist on Fort Knox. They're some of the best characters I've ever written, but the storyline could use some work. My favorite character is Tristan, the genius son of a mafia boss who orchestrated the whole thing. He's sort of the antihero/bad guy/undecided. Either way, he's awesome.

The main character is Missy, a rancher's daughter who received several bionic replacements after an accident she shouldn't have lived through.

And then there's Alyssa. There is no way to describe Alyssa. Alyssa is just...Alyssa. That weird Italian woman who plays supermodel by day and daredevil thief by night. I swear, she could steal the Eiffel Tower.

And Ian, the real life Superman. Technology gave him the ability to summon adrenaline at any time he wants, so he's super strong. (And soon shares a special friendship with Missy, since he's easygoing and she...can be a real jerk XD)

There are seven characters in total, playing the roles of:
-Mastermind (Tristan)
-Novice in Training (Missy)
-Hacker
-Thief (Alyssa)
-Security Specialist
-The muscle (Ian)

And then there's Tristan's dad, but he only plays the part of supplying the goods to break in. Marcus has what, five lines through the entire unedited story? (If that many...) Put together with his trusty, unnamed body guards, he makes one whole character though.

And I can honestly say, though there are many heist stories out there, I've never read one with a bionic woman and a human computer. Oceans 11 can inspire some weird stories.

Inkpop!

Again,no original title. For some reason, they just haven't been coming to me with blog posts.

Well I had my first tennis clinic, and it was SO fun. I loved the coach. I'm still nervous about practice, since the coach is different there. My shoulder is killing me since this is the first time I've ever played tennis...like, at all. It was kind of fun!(Since sports and I don't get along, thats saying something) Still, my shoulder's been acting up all day, even before the clinic.

I've posted one of my WIPs in this new site, Inkpop. I've gotten so many uplifting comments, I love that place already! I find myself addicted to it.

My friends think I act like Temperance Brennan off of Bones. It's getting crazy.....

Okay, moving on.

Okay, Love you Guys!
